About me

As a first-generation Chinese American, I grew up with a deep appreciation for service, resilience, and community—values instilled by my father, who was orphaned at a young age in China. Growing up between two cultures gave me a profound appreciation for the ways language, culture, and lived experiences shape our identities, relationships, and values.

That curiosity sparked a lifelong love of learning, travel, and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. It eventually led me to Alaska, where I worked with at-risk Native and residential Alaskan youth in a wilderness program. That experience unexpectedly ignited a passion for supporting young people and families, leading me to teach and mentor youth in a variety of settings, including outdoor education programs, residential treatment centers, and public schools.

I am also the mother of two neurodivergent children, an experience that brings both personal insight and humility to my work with children, adolescents, and parents. Raising neurodivergent children while supporting other families reminds me every day that this journey can be complex, exhausting, joyful, and deeply meaningful. It has strengthened my commitment to helping individuals and families better understand themselves, advocate for their needs, and recognize their unique strengths.

At the heart of my work is a belief that growth is a lifelong process. I am passionate about helping people of all ages cultivate greater self-awareness, build confidence in their own agency, strengthen meaningful connections, and create lives that feel authentic and fulfilling.

How much does therapy cost, and do you take insurance?"

My hourly rate is $175 with private pay. I currently am able to take insurance through Grow Therapy and Headway telehealth platfroms.

What happens in the first therapy session?

I will go over specifics of counseling, consent and confidentiality and see if you have any questions or concerns. Then, I will listen to what brought you into counseling and what you hope to get out of it. My goal is to have an understanding of you, your experience and if we mutually feel like it's a right fit to work together. Even if we have only have one session, my goal is end leaving you with at least one practical tool, strategy or new perspective.

How long are sessions, and how often will we meet?

Typical sessions are approximately 50-55 minutes, and the additional 5-10 minutes are reserved for any documentation and to transition to the next client. Frequency can be dependent on goals/needs, finances, availability and can change over time as the ultimate goal is for you and your life to be manageable without therapeutic support.

Are sessions confidential?

Yes. For telehealth, we will use a secure platform that is HIPPA compliant whether it is through Grow Therapy, Headway or Zoom. While I will conduct sessions in a private setting and your information will remain private with me, I will not be able to control factors on your end such as your location, whether you have headphones/earbuds and other unknowns.
